Leasowe Common – have YOUR say

by Ian Lewis

I’ve posted before about the sad state of Leasowe Common – litter, neglect and dog mess left for someone else to clean up.  This Wednesday, the Action Team has arranged for the whole subject to be discussed at the Area Forum.

Anyone is entitled to attend and ask questions of the Council officer who will explain the Council’s management of this important local amenity.  The Forum meets at Leasowe Millennium Centre, Twickenham Drive, Leasowe at 7pm on Wednesday 21 February.

  1. In August of this year the Fire Support Network, working in conjunction with Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, are once again launching the SPARC campaign (Saving Parks and Recreational Centres) – the initiative is aimed at young children and teenagers in a bid to reduce malicious fires in green spaces and promote diversionary activities based around health & fitness. It was originally launched in Wirral as the statistics showed a high increase in nuisance grassland fires throughout the area.

Throughout the campaign we aim to arrange for Fire Support Network volunteers, firefighters and Community Fire Safety team to visit out of school clubs, youth and recreational centres, scout groups and parkland areas to discuss the dangers of arson.

As part of the campaign,we identify an area which could be tidied / cleaned up. At the end of the campaign we try and encourage as many community groups and volunteers to work together and revamp the area so that it can be enjoyed by all.

If anyone has any suggestions of grasslands etc which we could consider, or if anyone is interested in taking part in this years campaign, please get in touch.
